Legacy application assessment

A fixed-scope engagement for organisations that must explain migration options to executives without promising impossible timelines.

Spreadsheet and architecture sketch during assessment work

Who this is for

IT directors and principal engineers responsible for a production system older than ten years—often a monolith, a suite of batch programs, or a heavily customised ERP module—that still carries revenue or regulatory obligations. You may be answering audit questions, replacing a retiring maintainer, or recovering from a stalled rewrite.

What you receive

  • Written assessment report (typically 40–60 pages) with executive summary
  • Machine-readable dependency export and annotated diagrams
  • Risk register with likelihood, impact, and mitigation owners
  • Phased migration roadmap aligned to our standard phases
  • Two read-out sessions: technical deep dive and board-style presentation

What we need from you

Read-only repository access or secure VPN, sample production logs (redacted), interview time with ops and at least two senior developers, and a named business sponsor who can confirm behavioural rules (“how we know calculations are correct”).

What is excluded

We do not write production migration code in this engagement, procure cloud resources on your behalf, or negotiate vendor contracts. Penetration testing and formal compliance certification are out of scope unless added by separate statement of work.

Process and timeline

Six calendar weeks from kickoff: week 1 interviews and access; weeks 2–4 analysis and validation workshops; week 5 draft report; week 6 final delivery and read-outs. On-site days in Johannesburg are included; travel elsewhere is quoted separately.
